Venturing Crew 2009 "The Bishop's Crew"
Venturing is a branch of Boy Scouts of America open to both male and female youth who are between the ages of 14 (or 13 and finished 8th grade) and 21.
Crew 2009 is chartered through the Diocese of Phoenix and Serra International.
Crew 2009 is unique in that in addition to outings and activities, Crew 2009 assists with service to the Diocese. Their signature event is to host the annual “Seminarian Picnic” for seminarians and their families. The Crew also helps with the annual Diocesan Scout retreat and other events as requested.
The Crew is run by the Scouts with mentoring by Advisors and the Crew Committee. Crew members meet and plan activities which have included kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, archery, firearms, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, and Surf Camp in San Diego.

Scouts can be dually enrolled in other troops or crews. Annual membership dues are minimal.
The Crew is spread out over the Diocese so we currently have three “subcrews” and are looking to add one in the West Valley and one in the Flagstaff area. Subcrews can meet and plan their own activities but also come together for larger events.
